The academic life is characterized by the development of activities that are intrinsically linked: the investigation that is carried out, among other things, to increase and to update the heritage of knowledge is transmited in the formative processes which take place in the education institutes, what’s more to diffuse in academic events and specialized publications. So, teaching, investigations and diffusion are tasks imbricated in the educative field.

Scientific productivity in medicine shows higher participation of scientific publications and also better authorship positions for men compared to women. Thus, the objective of this study is to identify the scientific production according to sex in the Mexican Institute of Social Security, during the period 2005 to 2015.

In this reflection, history is examined and the causes of the apparent success are analyzed; in the PISA test of student performance, mainly in China, but also in Taiwan, Singapore and Hong Kong, in mathematics, at the level of compulsory basic education, by analyzing the results of the latest tests, as well as those of Mexico.
