Knowledge behind the seventh art: Pulp Fiction
Abstract
This text shows how it would be feasible to carry out an analysis of a film to obtain show the different edges of dialogue that it includes. It aims to show elements that are not knowledge from critical thinking. The idea is to break up a movie into different parts and usually seen in the film, to use them as a pretext for questioning science or crime. The idea of this exercise is to show how to carry out film analysis with a critical perspective and new possibilities of knowledge. To achieve its development, the text is divided into four parts. The first topic that is dealt with is “The film” where an overview of the film is offered. The following three aspects are the result of questioning the object of study. Three elements emerge: “From science”, “From the criminal” and “From the possibility of change”. Each subtopic shows how the movie opens up those lines of dialogue. For example, from their dialogues, their scenes or the interpretation of the actions of the characters. Doing an exercise like this in other films allows breaking the obvious logic of the object and dismantling it to open lines of discussion and knowledge with a critical perspective.
