Correlation between body satisfaction and bullying on primary school students
Abstract
This research analyze the correlation between bullying and body satisfaction, variables of great interest and relevance for educators. This is a quantitative research, with students from an urban primary school of fifth and sixth grade, and two instruments were applied: the Bullying Exploration Questionnaire and the Body Image Satisfaction Test. The results were statistically processed using the Pearson correlation index. It was found that the perception of the students is that they almost never participate in bullying situations and expose a high satisfaction with the body image, in addition, no statistically significant relationship was found between the variables. The study shows that body image that individuals have of themselves does not depend on their physical complexion but on how they perceive themselves; furthermore, it stands out that self-recognition as a participant in bullying, as a victim or aggressor, represents a risk for the emotional stability.
